Abstract Ten novel bis(substituted-benzylidene)acetone compounds(2a~2j) were synthesized at room temperature by Claisen-Schmidt condensation reaction of substituted-benzaldehyde or substituted-salicylaldehyde with acetone, respectively, using dilute sodium hydroxide as catalyst. The structures were characterized by 1H NMR， IR, ESI-MS and elemental analysis.
